At the meeting last month with Marylou, some librarians asked about what other universities are doing about assessing information literacy. We have done a bit of research and have discovered several assessment tools being used by various colleges. There are two major standardized tests, one from Educational Testing Services and one from a consortium in Ohio led by Kent State University called Project SAILS.
We also have access to some information literacy surveys used by two other SUNY schools and one survey used by UCLA.
I have summarized the details of these assessment instruments on my website. We will quickly need to decide what sort of a survey/test we wish to give so that it may be administered sometime during the middle of next semester.
