Most of you are aware that we have been having some issues with the wireless network in the classrooms. In general, the problem is caused by everyone logging on at once. The new wireless system is quite consistent once everyone is logged on, but we have encountered some 'slowness' logging on to the computers. We have added additional wireless access points in Room 213 and in the main floor common area to address the problems in Room 213. This seems to be helping. We will be adding some additional wireless access points in Room 105 soon.
If you have a class in one of the wireless classrooms, please ask the students to log on as they arrive in class: don't wait until everyone has arrived. My CTA's may have already logged on several computers as 'milguest' to spread out the log-ins. If your students will need access to their own file space, please let me know ahead of time (they won't have this access if they are logged on as a guest).
There are several library instruction classes in the library today (9/12) using the wireless. I will keep you up to date of any difficulties we have and any updates as the situation improves.
